Shoniqua Shandai
OWNER
Shoniqua Shandai is a trained actress fostered from the Atlantic shores.
Born in New York, New York and raised in Richmond, Virginia; Shandai
first hit the stage at the early age of three years old performing her
own rendition of the classic "Proud Mary". That moment marked her
start as a flourishing artiste.
Enrolled in African dance at five, Shoniqua spent most of her life
wholeheartedly focusing on developing her crafts. Shoniqua has studied
at the School of the Performing Arts, (SPARC), performing at the
reputable FireHouse Theatre with the company. Eager for the next
performance, Shoniqua auditioned and was accepted into the Center for
the Arts Program(CFA) majoring in Theatre. With CFA, Shandai explored and cultivated the skill of acting, going on to win the Best Actress Award for her role of Evilene in their production of The Wiz. Exhausting all artistic avenues in Virginia, Shoniqua became a member of the worldwide competition troupe, Comedy Sportz Improv Theatre; playing in over 40 shows with the troupe. "[Shoniqua] is a tremendous talent, the audiences adored her, she's easy to direct, and a dedicated hard worker. If she were still living in VA, I would hire her in a blink of an eye." says Christine Walters, Owner of Comedy Sportz Richmond. Impeccably Shoniqua became one of the youngest players to be inducted in both the Senior and High school performing leagues.
Hungry for more, Shoniqua and family set off to the beautiful Hollywood Hills seeking to further her art. Since that leap of faith, Shoniqua has graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy; where she received a certificate in both the music and acting aspects of performing. She has starred in several plays in Hollywood working with Academy Award winner Steve Helgoth. With a film debut in the Jennifer Lopez flick The Back Up Plan, starring in the title role of Mud Puddles' Zola Jumped In and her most recent endeavor briefly acting alongside film and television legends Rhea Perlman and Mary Kay Place she is steadily becoming someone to look out for. A huge believer in continuously evolving, Shoniqua now studies with Playhouse West in Los Angeles. A further list of her credits can be found at http://www.ShoniquaShandai.com
